Orthodontic Retainers

Once your smile is aligned and your braces have been removed, Lund Orthodontics will fit you with a retainer to maintain your beautiful new smile! Your retainer will help keep your teeth straight and healthy for a lifetime.

Why is Wearing a Retainer After Braces Necessary?

Wearing a retainer is key to maintaining the winning smile you have achieved through braces. A retainer prevents your teeth from reverting back to their original positions.

The length of time you will wear a retainer will vary according to your unique needs. We offer removable and permanent retainer options!

Types of Retainers

There are two types of retainers: permanent and removable. In order to determine which type of retainer is right for you, we will take into account your unique orthodontic needs and personal preferences.

Removable Retainers

A removable retainer is an appliance that you wear in your mouth and take out to eat, brush your teeth, etc.

Permanent Retainers

A permanent retainer is bonded in place and prevents your teeth from reverting to their original positions.

Caring for Your Retainer is Important

Taking care of your retainer is an essential part of getting lasting results after treatment. Both removable and permanent retainers require daily cleaning. Learn more about how to care for your retainers now!

The Cost of Retainers

The cost of a retainer is typically factored into the cost of your overall orthodontic treatment plan. If a retainer is lost or damaged, a replacement may have to be paid for out of pocket, and the cost will be determined by the type and style of the retainer.

If your retainer breaks or is misplaced, you will have to pay a small fee for its replacement.
